The Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) is preparing for the new year to roll up its sleeves and work hard in cooperation with the clubs, for all the new challenges that are coming, Andreas Mouzourides, President of the Federation, told P.I.O underlining that in 2023 Cyprw basketball has achieved a lot.
The President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) also promised that in 2024 they will work even harder for the good of the sport.
He also noted that there are many things on the 2024 CBF calendar, and that the federation is preparing for several special events throughout the year, which will be announced gradually over time.
Regarding the EuroBasket 2025, where Cyprus will host a Group, Mr. Mouzourides said they have the first sponsorship partnerships to be announced soon, while advance ticket sales will begin around April.
He also said that “we will work methodically over the next two years to prepare the national team for this level of competition, which is the highest we have ever competed in”.
Asked about what he leaves behind for Cypriot basketball in 2023, the President of the federation replied that “we are happy for the things we achieved in 2023”.
“From the first day of my election, both I and all the members of the Board of Directors and the secretariat of the CBF have been working methodically on our plan to raise the level of Cypriot basketball awareness in all areas. I think we have achieved enough,
but of course there is always room for improvement and we will work on that”, he added.
Asked what is expected for 2024, the CBF President said that “we are looking forward to 2024 and we are getting ready to roll up our sleeves and work hard in cooperation with our unions for all the new challenges that are coming.
In response to a question on the status of the EuroBasket 2025, and what is the timetable for the hosting of the games, Mr. Mouzourides said that they have started from the first day they were told that FIBA trusted them and that one group will be held in Cyprus.
“The organizing committee has already been set up and is working intensively for the implementation of the event. We have the first sponsorship partnerships that will be announced soon, and ticket pre-sales will start around April. Also, in the coming months, several upgrade works will be carried out at the Spyros Kyprianou Stadium so that it will be ready to host the biggest sporting event ever held in our country in September 2025,” he added.
He also noted that “we will work methodically over the next two years to prepare the national team for this level of competition, which is the highest we have ever competed in. The Federation President said there are too many things on the 2024 calendar.
“Both, for the domestic competitions, we want to have a smooth running of all our leagues, but also for our national teams that will play in European competitions throughout the season. Beyond that, our Federation is preparing various special events throughout the year, which will be announced gradually and with over time,” he added.
In conclusion, the President of the KOK said that “I would like to wish a happy and healthy New Year to all the people and to promise that in 2024 we will work even harder for the good of our beloved sport”.
