Panagiota Themistokleous returned to Cyprus this year, after completing her studies in Greece and donned the APOP jersey.
The power forward/center of the Pafos team has managed to pleasantly surprise with her performances in this year’s OPAP Women’s League, as she is scoring numbers that we usually see only from foreign basketball players!
Specifically, Themistocleous is averaging 15.8 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game!
She is the second rebounder of the league behind Meadows of Moufflons (14.6) and the 5th scorer behind Dickey (AEL – 21.5), Stone (Anagenion – 20.0), Meadows (Moufflons – 18.4) and Styliana Velinova(Anagenion – 16.5).
In the last five games and despite the fact that APOP played them in a very short space of fourteen days (14/1 with ENAD, 18/1 with Renaissance, 21/1 with Moufflons, 25/1 with Moufflons for the cup and 28/1 with AEL), Themistocleous scored 24.4 points, while at the same time she grabbed 15.2 rebounds! And these numbers, having faced the two highest quality teams in the league, Anagenion and AEL.
The 24-year-old Cypriot set a career record in the game against AEL , scoring 33 points (out of 43 points scored by APOP!), while in the cup game against Moufflons she set a career record in rebounds, as she “pulled down” 21!
An authentic talent, a valuable basketball player and unstoppable “worker” who has recorded amazing performances in this year’s championship under the guidance of coach Diana Agapiou and she will keep us very busy in the near future.
