2023 leaves us with the best memories for CB, as it was its best year. We explain why!
Good morning friends of CB. Family time today and we are reminding you what we achieved this past year. As you all know, cyprusbasket.net is a purely basketball platform on the internet with social media on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and is owned by VT Basketball Ltd which deals with everything related to basketball.
This year, VT Basketball Ltd made two big deals and added two huge companies to its family, ECOMMBX and Cytavision.
The work done at CB is recognized not only in Cyprus but also abroad as it was the first time that a CB mission travelled to Euroleague stadiums other than Greece with recognition from the League itself. A historic moment for our site. Nicholas Koursaris and Angeliki Charalambous both represented CB Team and traveled to Madrid to watch the game between REAL Madrid and MONACO. There our friends from the Euroleague Media welcomed them in the best way and hosted them everywhere to make them feel comfortable since they knew we were doing this for the first time.
We never miss a single game of Panathinaikos and Olympiacos in the Euroleague with a series of viral video postings … all these is well known. We had incredible new attendance records on our platforms in 2023 with total followers on Facebook exceeding 27 thousand and total followers on Instagram reaching the magic number of 10 thousand, with hundreds of thousands of views on the videos we post. By far the most popular basketball platform in Cyprus.
In January 2023 we travelled to France and in particular to Paris, where we watched the Chicago Bulls – Detroit Pistons game. We were lucky to seat next to Victor Wembanyama at court side and we had the pleasure to dine with the NBA legend Rip Hamilton following the tradition we started in 2022 when we traveled to Abu Dhabi to watch Giannis and Thanasis for our first NBA EXPERIENCE and dine with NBA legend Dominic Wilkins.
After going public, the owner of the company VT Basketball Ltd, Neoclis Theocharides is the sports representative of ECOMMBX and was directly involved in its agreement with Cyprus Basketball Federation and the company ECOMMBX it self. This was a great moment for ECOMMBX since the logo will be on the jersey of the National Cyprus team on the way to Eurobasket 2025. ECOMMBX will be the 6th player of the National team of Cyprus as it has been mentioned in the press conference co-organized by ECOMMBX and the Cyprus Basketball Federation.
CB is the official Media Sponsor of the Chalkanor Suns Basketball Academy, an Academy that is growing by the day. In 2023, led by Costas Englezos and four more coaches, Kyriaki Nicodimou, Giorgos Teoulidis, Andreas Chimonas and Christakis Alexandritis, has managed to create two teams in Nicosia U14 and U12 and in the wider area of IDALIOU from mini U8 basketball to K16. We would like to thank the assistant coach of PAEEK Dimitris Papadopoulos who helped our academy to close the season in the best possible way by replacing George Teoulidis when he had an injury problem!
The Suns proudly finished the year first and undefeated in their U12 group in the Nicosia group. Most importantly, the SUNS academy has innovated by renting state-of-the-art facilities such as the English School. The academy’s goal for 2024 is through our coaching guidance to lock our key players into the pre-national development teams of Cyprus.
Finally, the agreement with PAEEK Kyrenia regarding the infrastructure of the basketball academy raises the bar and fills us with greater desire for work. We will stand by George Solomou and support him with all our strength in his admittedly difficult work he has to face in the future.
With great satisfaction and pride we saw the biggest media transfer of the year of Antonis Katsaros to Kerkida.net. Antonis Katsaros is still a close associate of CB. Grigoris Grigoras continues to bring you Euroleague news and Panagiota Charalambous is our first intern from America to do her internship with CB.
In terms of amateur sports, the CB team joined forces with ECOMMBX, won the C’ Division championship in the Nicosia Amateur Championship and from 2024 will compete in the first division using a wild card since the talent of the team was considered to be exceptional. Congratulations to all the guys for winning the championship and we thank each one of them individually. The slogan “Spartans for Life” is here to stay.
Cyprusbasket amateurs basketball team competes in the XEIMERINO Championship of Nicosia. Cyprusbasket platform is the OFFICIAL communication sponsor of the XEIMERINO. We have to mention that the XEIMERINO league is doing an exceptional work in its 3rd year of operation and now consists of 17 teams in Nicosia 6 teams in Limassol for Men and it was the first League to create Women Amateurs Basketall with 5 teams. Congratulations to ALL the members of the Board Dimitris Varzakakos, Victor Kountouris, Andreas Kokkinos, Christodoulos Pitsiolis, Panagiotis Nikolaidis and the rest of the committee.
In the context for its social responsibility,VT Basketball Ltd organized a series of events through the innovative program “ASSIST THROUGH BASKETBALL”, a program that officially put under its wings the Hope Team, a group of political refugees mainly African basketball players. It was an amazing recognition and a great honor for all of us when Alex Antetokounmpo sent his hearts as congratulations on our Instagram platform and showed his support to children from Africa.
The HOPE TEAM was also awarded by EAK, in the biggest sports awards ceremony in our country. Both TV, print and radio press widely covered the action of the HOPE TEAM. Warm thanks to our friend Lucianos who honored us with the first documentary tribute on Deutsche Welle, Athena Chalkou (CYBC), Nicola Markantoni, Petros Papagiorgis, Glafkos Michaelides, Herodotos Miltiadous, Antonis Katsaros, Panikos Theodosiou, Alkis Botsos, Haris Miltiadous, Melissa Hekkers and Myrto Zoumidou.

We are also very proud for the owner of the company Neoclis Theocharides who achieved the highest honor at the annual Basketball awards of the Federation, for his contribution to the promotion of Cypriot basketball through the CB platforms and the media in general.

Continuing his unstoppable action, the owner of our company, Neoclis Theocharides, received the FIBA Certified Agent ‘s diploma as he aced the FIBA exams in Geneva.
At the same time, he also traveled to Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League where he met with our very own Sasha Vezenkov and everyone who went there from Greece. We were honored to have Sasha Vezenkov, George Vovoras, George Bozikas, Dora Panteli and Christos Marmarinos attending our dinner.
