One of the captains of the Cyprus National Team and basketball player of Keravnos Strovolos, Simon Michael, speaking at the Press Office of the Cyprus Basketball Federation (KOK), called on Cypriot fans to support our representative team, in the match of February 23, 2024 against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the indoor hall “Tassos Papadopoulos – Eleftheria”, for the 1st round of the 5th qualifying group of FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

“Always, the home crowd is a powerful weapon for us. I remember many games in which they were the driving force to enable our team to win. We feel confident with the fans by our side, we need them and it is a good opportunity to get the results we want, starting with the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Simon Michael said initially.

As one of the four hosts of the final phase of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, the Cyprus national team will play in the group stage to be held in Limassol in August and September 2025, regardless of the results of the qualifying phase, which starts in a few days.

On what the National Team can gain from the games against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and France, the international guard said:

“We want to present a team that looks every opponent in the eye. Always strive for the best possible result, regardless of the opponent’s dynamics. It is important that the team is supported by the fans.

It is an opportunity to start with teams of Bosnia’s potential, so that the fans can get close to the national team, and we can reach the peak of support in the final phase of FIBA EuroBasket 2025″.

In closing, the 31-year-old international sent another message to the world:

“The national team is doing the best it can. We are preparing properly so that we present ourselves with courage and confidence, as we always do and that is what characterizes us. But we also need the help of the fans, so that we can feel the support and why not manage to get the victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
