Even if Maddie was in bed all day, exhausted with a high fever, she still managed to put on her uniform and play against ETHA BC for the first game of two for the Women’s playoffs.

She wasn’t poisoned like MJ was in Utah but she was cold and that didn’t stop Maddie from scoring 19 points grabbing 5 rebounds dishing three assists and last but not least steal the ball 5 times.

CB is everywhere so we spoke with Maddie after the big win.

Maddie congratulations for the big play off win. We wrote it before and it happened. The “flu” game on Michael Jordan’s Birthday in EFFECT from YOU. How do you feel after this huge win?

I feel relieved, as I was very anxious all day up until the game ended. I knew there was a lot on the line as we came into the game 0-2. I woke up this morning very ill but had a feeling today was the day. We had a strong two weeks prep for this game and knew we were ready.

What does this win mean to you and your team?

This win is huge, it felt great to be back on the court and it showed how hard we’ve worked these last few weeks. Although we would love to celebrate, we know we have to work hard these next few days in preparation for Sunday. However, this game brought us the motivation and energy we needed together as a team.

Do you think you have what it takes to qualify to the semis?

We’re playing a great team as it will be difficult to beat them back to back. But if we keep our energy up and listen to our coach’s game plan we have a shot at winning.

Talk to us about your team mates and the coaching staff?

My teammates and coaching staff have been there for me since day one. They are super welcoming and opened me into their homes. I’m so proud of them in tonight’s win, and it goes to shows what we’re capable of doing! On and off the court we are a family and I’m so thankful to be apart of it.

Last but not least. Talk to us about your personal goals? Would you like to play next year in Cyprus?

As this is my second year pro, my expectations to myself are already high. I go into every game wanting to win and play my heart out. Wherever these next years lead me, I want to play the best basketball and continue to develop more individual skills. If that lands me back here in Cyprus I’ll be happy!
