Cyprusbasket.net (CB)  had the chance to talk to Diana Delva after the game. The MVP of the final, Diana Delva, scored 30 points grabbed 26 rebounds (12 were offensive) and was unanimously voted Most Valuable Player of the final for Anorthosis BC. She only missed one free throw in eleven tries, dished two assists and had one block with an efficiency rating for the game 50!

Diana congratulations for winning the first ever Cyprus Cup with Anorthosis BC and of course, the MVP award. Your game was off the charts, 30 points, 26 rebounds and you only missed one free throw. How did you do it?

I was very focused on achieving our goal of bringing the first cup to Anorthosis. I knew that it would be a hard game and I wanted to do everything in my power to help us achieve our goal of making history. We practiced hard and motivated each other knowing what this meant for the club.

It’s your first time in Cyprus. You won the first title of the year, the Cyprus Cup. How confident do you feel about the most important title? The championship! Would you like to win the title as well? (laughing)

Now that we have this title, it’s time for us to focus on the championship. We know the competition will become even harder for this title and it will be a competitive series. The goal is always to win, we will continue to work game by game until we get to the final.

Share with us a few words about the President Mr. Mikellides and the management!

A big part of our success is due to Mr. Antonis Mikellides and the management. They are at our practices teaching us the history and emotion behind our club’s history to help fuel our fire on the court. They have fully supported us on and off the court making it easy for us to focus on giving the best results.

Diana talk to us about your coach Mr Aristou and the rest of his staff.

Our coaches have prepared us and given us the tools to be successful. The staff as a whole from the President to the physiotherapist are always there for us as players and humans. It makes it easier to play when you have a great supporting staff.

What do you have to say about the basketball standard of the Cyprus League? You played in big leagues and Panathinaikos of course. Do you see potential and any future talents that will pop out in the future?

I am so proud of our team, they have shown me the heart and determination of Cyprus players. They won the game while I was out with my 5th foul. With experienced players that show calm leadership and focused determination, the rest of the team didn’t miss a beat, which shows me that the future is bright for these young players. We have young girls that played a huge part of our success everyday in practice. There are girls winning their first title that stepped up and made big plays all the game. If they continue to work and study the game, the limits are endless.
