Petrolina AEK passed through Limassol


Petrolina AEK achieved its 13th victory by defeating Apollon 98-77, in the 17th week of the OPAP Basket League. Brown led the way with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists.

Petrolina AEK scored the first basket of the game with a basket by Loizidis, while Apollon responded with a three by Grivas and a layup by Williams (5-2). Then the “yellow-green” built a 12-point run that ended with Brown’s two-point play (5-14). At 17′ the Limassol team tied 15-15 with a three-pointer by Konstantinou. The end of the first quarter found the visitors leading by six points (19-25) after Bishop’s layup.

At 13′ with a three by Simitzis the difference reached double digits (23-33), while at 17′ the difference was seven (35-42) after a three by Iliadis. With seven consecutive points by Simitzis, AEK Athens opened the difference to 14 points (35-49) one and a half minute before the end of the second quarter. At 19′ the gap opened at 17 (36-53) after Brown’s two free throws, to close the first half with a basket by Konstantinos (38-53).

The guests laid an even stronger foundation for their victory in the third quarter, during which they increased the difference by seven points (they scored 28 against 21), opening the gap to 23 points (69-81). The difference stayed at the same level during the fourth quarter with Apollon scoring one more point (18-17) to make the final score 98-77.
