Sean Flood on CB: “Cyprus in the favorite”

The national team of Cyprus is hosting Ireland tomorrow for the Euro Basket Qualification round. Sean Flood is the point guard of OMONOIA Nicosia and tomorrow will face many familiar faces at Tassos Papadopoulos Arena.

Sean Flood spoke with Cyprusbasket.net about the game tomorrow

CB: Sean first of all good luck with tomorrow’s game against Cyprus. Tell us how you feel going into tomorrow’s game? How do you feel playing against Cypriot players that you compete in our Basket League?

I’m looking forward to playing against a lot of the guys that I play here while playing with Omonoia. It’s been nice to come up against some of the guys already and have a bit of an idea of how they like to play going into this game.

CB: What does this game mean to you?

This game is hugely important to me. It’s our first time as a country back at this level since 2009 so to be part of the team going back to that level is a special feeling. It’s an added excitement because it’s here in Cyprus against a good team with lads that I play every week here in the league.

CB: Who is the favorite tomorrow?

I would think that Cyprus would have to be considered the favorite. Cyprus has had a solid national team over the last number of years and knows what basketball at this level is like. We’ll be confident going into the game but to people outside our group, I would say they see Cyprus as favorites.
