Achilleas won the derby against APOP

Achilleas Kaimaklion achieved its fourth victory by defeating APOP 84-71, in the 18th round of the OPAP Basket League. Jeremy Smith led the winners with 35 points, 3 3-pointers, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

At 3′ with Smith’s basket Achilleas Kaimaklion had a seven-point lead (9-2), with APOP then going on a nine-point run and at 5′ with Porphyridis’ three-pointer, they took the lead (9-11). The score swung around and in the final minute, a three-pointer by Perry for the visitors and a two-pointer by Smith for the hosts tied the game 18-18.

Another three-pointer by Perry at 13′ put APOP ahead by two points (25-27). A 12-point run followed for Achilleas Kaimaklion, who had a double-digit difference at 16′ with Shabazz’s three-pointer (37-27), while another three-pointer by him a few seconds later brought the difference to 13 (40-27). At the end of the first half, which ended with a layup by Perry, the gap between the two teams was nine (48-39).

At 24′ the team of Pafos got closer to six with a basket by Perry (52-46), with Shabazz’s free throws opening the gap to double digits (63-52) two and a half minutes before the end of the third quarter. The last points of the quarter were scored by Pafos with a two-pointer by Rogers (67-55).

The difference remained at the same level in the fourth and last quarter with Achilleas Kaimaklion scoring one more point (17-16) and taking the pink sheet with a final score of 84-71.
