Nikita Kurbanov tested positive for cocaine use in a doping control test he underwent in October, with the Russian Anti-Doping Federation announcing the news today (18/1) and punishing him with a three-month ban. The detail? His punishment ends in… one day – on January 19! And there is an explanation for this.

According to what has become known, Kurbanov’s suspension started to take effect from the moment he tested positive in the doping test, i.e. on 20 October. On October 27, however, the CSKA captain announced that he was temporarily retiring from the court for personal reasons. In other words, he was out of action anyway during this time. And from January 20 he will be able to return – if and when he wants to – to CSKA’s obligations.
